So I have this "I can't pass up an excellent deal on a decent game" thing that's come over me since making the switch from coughs-consolegaming-cough cough. Bare with me here with the long winded post if you dont mind.
I have these games-
Xcom The Bureau
Just Cause 2
Half Life 2 + Ep 1&2
Mafia II complete (which I actually meant decline, but mistakeningly hit "pay" and now its mine permanently)
Return To Castle Wolfenstein
Are these games worth playing, or should I hold on to them and trade them at some point for something I'm sure I'd play/enjoy?
What sort of games I like? To give a view on my gaming likes/dislikes right now.
Deus Ex HR DC is top of my list. Recently started the Thief Collection and the earlier Deus Ex releases and very much enjoying them for the quality games they are(graphics are only as good as core gameplay mechanics imo). I didnt mind the new thief for all its faults and played it through to its entire main story and side mission campaign.
Dishonored...not impressed. I've played bioshock infinite enough and it feels too similar and very plain and clunky so its on my "i could have passed on this one" list.
I'm not a huge fantasy genre peron in general, though because Skyrim is such a hugely successful and popular game I'm giving it a serious try and think its ok(but IMO it's no deus HR as far as story "grip factor" goes for myself).
Bioshock Infinite was very a beautiful and well produced piece story wise, gameplay wise it was also very good(though an fps is an fps in the end, so really I liked the story).
I really really like Medieval 2. I want to like Rome 2, but its a game with higher tiered graphics, more importantly CRUD for core gameplay mechanics. It feels as if it were made by a studio which had idea what they really wanted from the title and is very boring and ultimately repetative. Not to mention a bug infested frustration fest. I could go on about this particular subject, but I won't bore everyone with that whole "situation". I do suggest checking out the Rome II Humour thread which is both funny, and very much explains the situtaion with the game and its devs at this point in time.
Anyway, I'm done taking up your time and would appreciate any suggestions on the games I've listed. If you have a suggestion for something else I might like feel free to post that as well.
Basically, I'm hoping for some advice on if people with knowledge of these titles think they're something I'd like based on the limited info I've given in this thread and/or worth the time they'll take to complete. I have a HUGE backlog right now anyhow, so I figured some advice might save me some time and potentially wasted effort.
(I would try the mass effect series out, but I just cannot support EA or put Origin on my pc. I've read many things about they're using of information and that when you agree to EA eula you're basically giving them carp blanch on all personal information much moreso than anyone else, and seing as its quite obvious they could care less about customers really I feel like I'd be stupid to buy into their company. Also I feel they ruin studios and great franchises. If there is any concrete information why they arent as bad as their user agreements and games and customer service suggests I'd be willing to hear it out... I thought that might be pertinent to what kind of games I enjoy for some reason...)
Thanks for your time if you've read through this entire post. I hope it wasnt too off base/not in line with what this forum is for(I'm new here so I'm not sure if its just an annoying post or something to that extent.) Good day to all.
TL DR Should I play the games in bold print, are they any good?
