Which of these RAM modules is best

here are the one's i've looked at. i WILL be doing some overclocking to my 3000+newcastle
Gigaram
Corsair
Mushkin
Patriot
These are all single mondules.
I was thinking of either the Gigaram or the Mushkin cus they both have 2.5Cas Latency but i've never heard of Gigaram

I think either the Mushkin or the Corsair is great stuff.

Gigaram:thumbsdown:
Patriot is decent, never had any myself so I can't speak from personal experience.

also try looking at some OCZ Value, very nice!!

but it only has Cas 3 Latency. but timings arnt that important w/64's right???

 Latencies don't mattery too much on A64s.. Get it and tell us how well your CPU and ram overclock! 🙂

All of the modules you're looking at will perform about the same. I'd stay away from cosair just because there have been a lot of compatability problems with them and A64 systems (although may have just been their older modules). The few reviews I've read on gigaram are all good, and I've personally used OCZ value ram without any problems. No comment on patriot other than I want some of thier XBLK series 🙂

And don't forget that if you go dual-channel, you'll gain some memory performance over just one 1gb dimm. But if you plan on upgrading to 2gb later (or already have 1gb), you're making the right choice.

I've had good luck w/ pdp / patriot memory, then again I've also had good luck w/ corsair, kingston, buffalo, and crucial, typicaly I buy what I can get a good deal on that fits my needs at the time. I'm still currently runing some buffalo winbond CH-5 based stuff that I've had since my old Nforce 2 system.

also just an FYI that PDP memory you have listed works fine in a friend of mines DFI NF4 Ultra moded to SLI board w/ 2x 1gb @ 2.5 3 3 10 @ 1T cmd w/ 2.7V it makes it up to 209 mhz at those timings, so not to shabby for value memory.

You got it wrong. Latencies matter on A64s. Bandwidth matters on Intel.

I dont know why everyone here will pick Corsair, but if you head over to diff forums like XS or DFI, they will tell you OCZ or Mushkin. OCZ has one of the most awesome support teams crawling over forums and they have kick@$$ RMA service.

Fry your VX? No problem!

Everyone else on these boards will tell you corsair though.

<<shrugs>>

Not everyone else.

I'd recommend the Mushkin too.

Though the OCZ the OP ended up getting is great too.
