I had chosen :
Update Antec TRUEPOWERII TPII-550 ATX12V 550W Power Supply
http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16817103931

There have been 2 other suggestions:
FSP Group (Fortron Source) FSP550-60PLN EPS12V 550W Power Supply
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817104982

PC&P SILENCER® 470 ATX
http://www.pcpowercooling.com/products/viewproduct.php?show=S47ATX

It's going in this rig:

Have you considered the Enermax Whisper 535W? It is SLI cerified by nvidia and is relatively quiet compared to those two models. It is also cheaper. I would suggest you get that. The FSP unit and Antec are both too inefficient in my opinion, thus generating more heat. Out of those three, I'd get the Silencer.

I just ordered my rig today and got the Seasonic 500W for $110 at ewiz. There was no tax and has free shipping. So the total was in fact $110!

Look into that.

Well, considering you have -- maybe, if you're being generous -- 250W worth of parts listed, I'd say those are all ridiculous overkill.

Agreed.

I'm using the silencer 470 in my computer and my wife's. They are quiet and rails are both rock solid. Highly recommend them even if they are a little overkill.

My main concern is stability, so what other choices do I have - maybe less wattage?
Thanx again,
Ron

Buying a PSU with way too much wattage doesn't really improve stability, and will also usually lower conversion efficiency (which will generate more waste heat, which in turn will raise the temperature of your PSU, which WILL hurt reliability over time).

There's nothing wrong with the PSUs you listed; it's just that, unless you plan on upgrading to a 7800GT SLI setup in six months, you're not going to ever use anywhere close to the amount of power they can put out.

IMO, you'd be better off buying a lower-rated (but still name-brand) PSU and a line conditioner/UPS to provide cleaner power if you want to maximize reliability.

Those are all an overkill for your sytem, I am running more than that with my 450w Antec, and actualy ran more than that with a 350w enermax(2.8ghz Prescott @3.5ghz, 2x36gb raptors, and a 6800GT @ultra speeds). Save yourself some money, get something like a 450w fortron, which is reliable and well priced.

i say get any of the ones you listed OP..........

they say overkill, i say protection and guarantee

no harm in getting "over kill" on the most important part of a computer
