Which of These CPU

Wow. I thought this was about to become a nef thread with the blank first post! :Q 😛

Definitely the Celly smacks the K6-2 only 'cause the K6x series sucks at SETI's floating point ops. 🙁

Also since you're OCing the Celly, the FSB increase makes a big difference. The 450 K6-2 does a WU in about 25 or so hours. I think that Celly might take ~18 or so. 🙂

My hand accidentally hit the enter button by accident when i was typing 🙂
Oh and i just found out that the mobo i plan to use doesn't support o/c 🙁 ah well.

Yep, Celly on SETI. Use the K6 for something like DNet or UD or ECCP... (Been too long since I played with a K6 to tell which of those projects a K6 is best suited for)

Even without overclocking the Cel will be faster ,
btw I have a Cel 366@550 which completed WU's in about 10.25hrs 🙂,(it's just been swapped out for a PIII 733@800) ,are you sure you're not tempted to stick it in a 100MHz capable board?😉.It could actually run at 578MHz but it needed 2.15v & got rather warm!

<< My K6-2 450 averages 28hr/WU.🙁 >>

Yeah, they aren't too quick. If K6-3+ procs weren't so expensive I'd get one of them for my sister's computer - she's got the K6-2 proc. Their FPU performance is really lousy.

Celery it is! The fastest i can get the CPU up to is 440mhz using a 80mhz bus..however the board doesn't support overclocking so it is stuck at stock speeds. Hopefully it will crunch 2 WU's a day.

I've got a Dual Celly 366@550, 2.20V, 34degrees Celcius liquid cooled.... They take about 12h for a wu to complete..
And also another Dual Celly 300@500 2.10V which takes about 13,5h / wu..
I might be switching to a dual PIII 1.0Ghz soon I hope.. 🙂
(Modding my Abit BP6 Motherboard for use of PIII 🙂)

I doubt very much you'll get 12hrs/WU at 366 ,more likely you'll get about 16-18 hrs/WU ,but that's still better than a K6-2🙂
