My cpu tops out at 2600mhz
My ram tops out at 250mhz (DDR500)
My HTT/FSB tops out at 340mhz
I'm using a winnie 3200 so my highest cpu multi is 10

So, which of these two configurations would yield the most performance?

10x250 = 2500mhz with ram at 1:1 / DDR 500mhz (HTT @ 4)
OR
8x325 = 2600mhz with ram on 133 divder / DDR 433mhz (HTT @ 3)

And which benchmarks to use to test performance?
Prime 95 is good for stability testing.
3D Mark is good for video card testing.

Any suggestions on what to use to test TOTAL system performance?

With a Athlon 64, clock speed always wins.

Tighter timings help in some cases as well!

#2 would yeild more perfromance, as the cpu clookspeed is higher. Also with your memory at 433 you could probably tighten the timings. Also the 325 fsb would give you about 5 fps in a game more than the 250 fsb.

I'd do 260x10 with the 166 divider. No point in forcing your mobo to hit 325HTT if you dont need it, as the northbridge will produce more heat.

So the HTT/FSB doesnt play any role in performance either?
Just grab the most cpu mhz ya can and thats it?

Again, a higher fsb will increase your perfomamnce, but not by alot. About 5 fps w/ 325 over 250. The northbridge will produce more heat, but you can actually go up to 90C I think. (NF4)

monster64,
Yeah, i wasnt ignoring your post above just wasnt sure if the 5fps was worth the extra stress on the mobo as stated above and wanted some more opinions.

Actually I'm disappointed, i finally got a mobo that does the highest HTT ive ever achieved with an NF4 board and finally got DDR500 ram and im not maxing them out...LOL
I was hoping 1:1 @ ddr500 or A high HTT would net a decent performance increase on top of my cpu mhz.
Oh well.

I think i'll stick with the 10x260

Thnx for the input. ;)

FSB is HTT and in this case the 2000mhz effective the HTT is overwhelming already. I saw a review back awhile ago that should 2.5x200 was neglible difference ti 5x200....

The fact is 100mhz cpu is almost always in all cpu architectures currently going to trump ram speed...in your case the ram speed is only 66mhz faster and likely can do a bit better on timings...

gaming seems to like the bandwidth more then anything, but most no gaming things show little movement from bandwidth and more so with timings.....

325 is a bunch of stress on the mobo and perhaps the answer lies somewhere in the middle...Like 10x255 with lower divider.....
