Today i built the machine :)

Asrock Z68 Pro3 (Updated to 1.60)
i5-2400
2x 4GB Corsair DDR 1333 Value
Cougar 400SE
Zotac GTX 560Ti

Win7 Home Premium (a Gamer dont need more ;) )

Machine runs good the far, but Intel Boxed-Cooler doesnt sound nice.

One problem I still have, my Sharkoon Quickstore portable USB 3.0 hangs at copying files, cant end the task in the task-manager, cant soft-off the PC, only hold the Power-Button some seconds help

HDD runs ok on USB2.0.

Nice system. Did you install the ASRock XFast USB drivers?

wait. COUGAR PSU?!

Their European products are a lot better.

Supposedly, the "Cougar" PSUs in EU are better made than the units for sale under that same brand name here in the US of A.

If the temps are fine you could create a lower RPM fan profile in the BIOS, I've heard

No, but I can try it. Or cause this driver more probs. My friend don´t have an USB3.0-HDD, so he can live with that issue; but it would be nicer when it would work.

Didn´t know the non-european-Cougars, but the Cougar u can buy in Germany are mostly very good. Most of them can be highly recommended, even the cheaper A-series. The more expensive GX-series could almost match Enermax and Seasonic.

I can take a look ;)

But the guy who get this PC mostly play games and pump up the volume, he maybe never hear the fan ;)

I just wonder about the CPU-Temp, it´s getting fast to 66° Celsius when I run Prime95; and the CPU-Cooler stays at 2000rpm

Tested today WinXP, no probs there with USB3.0 and the HDD

Not bad temperature, though a small cooler at 2000rpm must sound terrible :E

I think the max. temp für i5-2400 is 72,6° Celsius, not far away. Never had probs with AMD-Boxed-cooler, it never came so close to max. Temp of the CPU

There is some confusing information out there on Sandy Bridge's maximum safe temperature. TJmax is still 100C as far as I know.

The thermal management on these CPUs is so good that you will never ever hit that before it starts throttling anyway. Even if you run it in the open air.
