Which of these combinations?

Hello!

I build a new Gamer-PC for a friend. The most hardware is selected, but I´m not sure which GPU/CPU-combination is better:

AMD X4 965BE + GTX 560 Ti

Intel i5-2500 + GTX 560
 
Bench comparison against an i5-2400, the i5 dominates:

Keep in mind:
- i5-2400 and 05-2500 only allow the automatic Turbo Boost overclock, it's the i5-2500K that allows additional, manual overclocking
- for stock speed or a mild overclock you don't need a third-party heatsink, the intel heatsink works well.
- for intel you only need DDR3-1333 at 1.5v, faster "gamer" RAM does not help
- if not overclcoking (beyond the built-in Turbo Boost) you could save up to $50 by getting a H61 or H67 chipset motherboard.

Depending on parts, the correct answer to your question may be "i5-2400 and GTX 560 ti" not the choices that you offered.
 
Well, I have only the choices between these combinations 🙂

It have to be a Nvidia-card

Mainboards I would use:

Asus M5A97 Pro

or

Asus PH8H67

RAM: Teamgroup DDR3-1333

Why does it have to be an Nvidia card?

As for the CPU, I would forget about AMD at this price point. They just aren't competitive. The P8H67 (which version?) isn't that good of a deal either compared to an ASRock H67M.

Personally I don´t like µATX-Boards (myself use some Add-on-cards), I like to have more place and PCIe/PCI-ports

Gigabyte don´t have UEFI, so I had to choose between Asus and Asrock.

I read many experiences in many shops, I found good and bad experiences for Asus, Asrock and Gigabyte, so I hope I chosen the right one.

The best experiences were MSI-boards, but in the younger past MSI seems to be that reliable.
 
I mostly use different brands in my computers, INtel or AMD, Nvidia or AMD.

But don´t u know guys who stay with the brands of their first PC or car?

An other friend always use Intel and ATI/AMD, no matter which one is (clearly) better at the moment

Yeah, I know them. That doesn't mean that they're not idiots though. 😉

Today i built the machine 🙂

Asrock Z68 Pro3 (Updated to 1.60)
i5-2400
2x 4GB Corsair DDR 1333 Value
Cougar 400SE
Zotac GTX 560Ti

Win7 Home Premium (a Gamer dont need more 😉 )

Machine runs good the far, but Intel Boxed-Cooler doesnt sound nice.

One problem I still have, my Sharkoon Quickstore portable USB 3.0 hangs at copying files, cant end the task in the task-manager, cant soft-off the PC, only hold the Power-Button some seconds help

HDD runs ok on USB2.0.
