Which of these cards would you recommend?
MY friend is looking into getting a new video card...his computer is a 2.4 Ghz celeron with 512 mb ram...just wants a cheap card to run games better(currently using intel onboard)
Yeah, so, which card out of those would you recommend?

Or is there a better card not on that list? Would have to be PCI, directx9...also around/under $100 dollars would be great, but doesn't have to be.

Thanks alot.

ugh. the fx5700le is fastest, but forthis price, seriously consider used off of ebay or these forums fs/trade.
a 9600pro or xt can bbe had for $50 used.

the 9250 is listed wrong. the 9250 is a modified 9200(10mhz less core clock) which is a modified 9000 which is a modified 8500(8500 is actually fastest i think). It is a Direct X 8.1 card not DirectX9.

As you can see, the 9250 has the same specs as the 9200 except that it has a 10 MHz lower core clock. Also, keep in mind that the 9250 is still a DirectX 8 card; therefore, it slanted more towards the home user, not the gaming enthusiast.

Below is a list of the technologies the ATI has incorporated into they're 92xx series of GPUs.

-SMARTSHADER? supports Microsoft® DirectX® 8.1 feature sets, enhancing in-game performance and enabling more complex and realistic lighting effects.

I don't believe they come in PCI.

Firstly, I'd upgrade out of that PCI mobo and into a PCI-e mobo... or at least an interim AGP one.

Oy, PCI Video card on a Northwood Celery system gunna = SLOWOMGWTF no matter how you cut it. If its not a dell or something, I recommend he upgrade his mobo + cpu before video. Get a nice Mobo with the Integrated GEforce 6100 + a decent Sempron and hes set.

All of those cards are going to be slow, best bet is the cheapest 5500 or the 9250 .. spending more on on the 5700le or a card with 256mbs of RAM is a waste of time & the 5200 is the worst of the bunch.
