Just went from metro Atlanta (Newnan) to San Diego (SoCal) myself and, as a new biker, I couldn't be happier. It rarely rains and it's riding season year-round. 😀

what part of SD did you settle into CZroe?

<-------SD Native

Up near Mira Mesa (Carroll Canyon Rd. off the I-15). My sister is here too (just moved from the Kensington area) while my niece lives near Sports Arena Blvd.

Back to the job search for me...

The west coast is shit (yes, the entire coast 😛 ); so is NYC. Chicago's not bad, but wouldn't be my first choice, or probably even in my top 10.

I live outside DC now, which is ok. I kind of want to move back to Boston though.

Why isn't Austin on that list?

texas is not a desirable place to me, sorry

Good, because Austin is the opposite of the rest of Texas.

First you have Texas > Other States and then you have Austin > Texas.

I thought Santa Barbara was awesome and didn't seem to have the pitfalls often attributed to LA.. so it depends where in Socal.

Chicago. Cali is overrated and stupid expensive.

Yea cus the "Windy City" has so much better weather.

In Cali you can go to many great places to take a drive. On a sunny day, which we have many, you can drive on the coast with top down or go driving on the hills. It's great.

If I had the cash I'd opt for Paris or Buenos Aires.

You sound like a good candidate for SoCal though.

you only need cash to get there, but buenos aires should be cheap as shit

I'd pick Chicago, because Chicago has the best weather. That said, I will admit that Chicago weather really sucks for 3 months of the year .... June-August SUCKS cause it gets well over 80 degrees out!

Ya know. Everyone says that but when you compare living standards in every big city, SF isn't really that more expensive than say Boston or NY.

I don't want to live in any big city. To many people, and to many extra hassles. I'd pick Chicago though from your choices because the suburbs aint bad and you can take a train.

nyc will tax and fee you to death. stay out of the nyc

not only is the council and gov't generally corrupt and self serving, but this major metropolitan city is only suited for bicyclists.

Gotta love the extra 8% city tax one has to pay on their tax returns.

All those taxes and still the infrastructure like the airports are 3rd world!

Haha, yeah same here. I mean I like small cities though, I've lived here all my life (~14,000 people). I was in Houston, TX this summer for three months and wasn't too overjoyed with the humidity and temperature. Too many people, too many cars, too expensive... I dunno, I'm more of a laid-back small town guy.

Chicago is my favorite city in all of the US. People are easy to relate to and down to Earth and it's very urban yet in a clean way.

isle of palms, then you can drive into chas.

thats the way to do it.

LA and driving???

i do anaheim 4 months out of the year and i'm getting to the point i can't deal with the traffic, the crowds, the wildfires (missed us by less then a 1/4 mile last time, they wouldn't let us into our neighborhood, mudslides, the winds, oh the winds....

the rest of the time i stick with the colorado springs area. has it all.

i've had more then enough beach for several lifetimes, between isle of palms (we still have beachhouse) and laguna beach, newport, malibu and all that socal has to offer.

cali always cracks me up, except for one movie theatre near the house that offers 4 buck movies before 11am, movies are expensive. Everything is expensive. it's hard to find bread in cali cheap. and gas.....you'd think they didn't know the rest of the country existed when it comes to the price of gas, even though it is much lower now then normal.

I like st. george, ut it is an interesting little city.

i'm not much for desert cities, you have to like heat, and i'm not into that.

Vancouver, Toronto, Amsterdam, London, maybe even Calgary or Edmonton if there was something big enough there to attract me.

out of those, I chose Chicago. Kind of odd because I hate cold weather, but I love the city.
