SGI ! Look up word "cool" in dictionary, and you will see a picture of a SGI workstation!

What can I say? I'm a Solaris fanb0y. Irix is pretty lame now that you can do on an iMac what you used to need a whole cluster of SGIs to do.
I was never a fan of HP.

Dunno much about the IBMs these days...

I've seen some amzing stuff done on SGI's. I put my vote in for SGI even though I wouldn't turn my nose at the Sun. As for the others, the hp pa-risc machines I've seen weren't powerhouses, although they may have gotten better, and I have no idea about the ibm.

Sun Blade 2000. High-clocked CPU means more distributed computing production, and it's the only one that I know Linux would run on. :)

I know most college campuses go with Sun machines including my alma mater so they seem to be the development platform of choice. I have used Sunblades and they're pretty nice but I wasn't impressed at their performance over some older Ultras- it didn't seem too much greater even in demanding apps.

SGI product design rocks, I would even get an apple if it looked like the Fuel

(Well the SGI wintel boxes were a little fugly, but they dont count)

Maybe that's why SGI discontinued them. ;)

SGI no contest. It'll run Irix or Linux, plus it rocks for 3D content creation.

Plus they look frickin awesome!

Well, I would rather have the SGI in many ways, but I voted for the Sun Blade 2000 because I have a Blade 1000 on my desk in my office.

If that IBM Intellistation had Power4 processors in it, I would take it over the other workstations.

BUT, for now I would take the Fuel with dual 600/4MBL2. SGI definitely has the best design team, and I own one of their monitors, so i'm kinda partial to them. :D

I've always wanted to get an SGI workstation...not only are they cool looking, but they have pretty good performance. If only I had around $10,000 or maybe a little more to spare. ;)
