Im wanting a notebook for school, something slim and portable, and not to slow. My old pc was bare minumum speed, Pentium 4 1.9Ghz 256mb ram. Most notebooks iv looked at are celeron, which run at a lower clock speed and im not sure what the equivelent pentium is.

Anyway, the one im looking at is £600, and its the one at the bottom of this page:

Is that an ok price of those specs? And how fast will it be in Pentiumness ? lol

Or, can you suggest another notebook which is cheaper or faster

thanks,

For regular school work, 1.6 Celeron M dothans won't be much slower than 1.6 P-M dothans. But, P-M will provide more battery life, but not much.
honestly, I can not tell the difference in speed between my older 1.5 P-M banias (pretty much same speed as the Celeron in that acer), and my 1.7 dothan P-M, for regular school work.
I don't know if the price is ok because you are in UK, where more taxes are imposed on laptops. That laptop will be around 800-900USD in the US.

Thats a decent lappy but i would say you might want to go with a p-m simply for the battery life reason. My guess is that that might be assett in your situation.

I couldent find any P-M notebooks under £600 without it being not as good at that one, if that makes sence. can you recomend another notebook site? £600 ($1000) is my maximum budget as il be spending about £2000 ($3500) on my new pc and even thats pushing it so dont have much left over for a notebook.

Maybe a mobile sempron if you want some extra battery life. They are certainly better than the celerons for blife but fall a little short when compared to the Pentium M.
