As far as I can remember I've only ever been able to regularly breathe through my left. Ocassionally it will shift to the right but cycles back around before long.

Then there are the very, very rare times when I can actually breathe clearly through both, usually due to some sudden change in temp/humidity/orientation. Unfortunately this wonderful feeling lasts all of a minute or two and then is gone :(

I have year round allergies that prevent me from breathing out of both nostrils at the same time. However, when I use a nasal spray to open them both up...it's like heaven.

I have a deviated septum. I got it when I was 12 when a high school senior jumped me from behind, put me in a headlock and smashed my face a couple dozen times.

Fun fact: the whole situation stemmed from a dispute about a Shout at the Devil tape.

See, that's why I only play Shout with the Lord tapes.

Wow, I just realized I almost always breathe through only the left nostril. I'll get this deviated thingy tested out with my GP.

Well I have a deviated septum thanks to a soccer injury so most of my air flows in the left nostril. At the time the doctor said it was only swelling, but I knew better.

I switch between nostrils (like today it's a right nostril day). No real clear winner (and no poll option for that, either).

Typically it's only my right I've noticed.

I can breathe through both though. The right is usually clogged though. It's really nice when I can breathe through both though... oh my god. It's like, "YESSS.. I FEEL SO NORMAL"

This is about it for me as well. NORMALLY, both nostrils simultaneously...but occasionally, one or the other...or none...resulting in mouth breathing.

No one has pointed this out yet? The human nose is designed to be breathing through mostly one nostril at a time, and it occasionally switches back and forth. This is why it's especially noticeable when you have a cold, but even when you're not sick, your body still does it.

I don't know what kind of special issues you might be having, but if you can feel more air coming out one nostril than the other, that's not an issue at all.
