That was rough - far worse than the non-answer on examples of McCain being a maverick.

Palin appears incredibly weak as a political speaker. Eerily similar to Bush. (Although, Bush actually makes me laugh, Palin makes me cringe.)

This is really getting bizarre.

Couric: Can you name a specific newspaper?
Palin: The Wall Street Journal/New York Times/Washington Post
Couric: Which writers do you follow?
Palin: Well, I generally just read the news sections, if a columnist writes a piece on an issue we're dealing with, someone will bring it to my attention.

OR:

Couric: Can you name a specific newspaper?
Palin: To be honest I don't receive a daily newspaper, I follow current events through the cable news channels and my staff.

My problem is not that she doesn't read newspapers, it's that she can't seem to think on her feet. At all.

Honest question. Take away her being an attractive conservative female...

Palin is a GOP wet dream come true when it comes to being a pull cord Chatty Cathy repeater of GOP talking points. She becomes a total disaster when asked to justify a single GOP talking point she parrots.

Even as a partisan dem, the solution to the Palin problem is obvious, ole Sarah simply has to learn to be a politician, and never try to justify what she is saying. Duck Sarah Duck, Bob Sarah, Bob, Weave Sarah weave, Spin Sarah Spin, and never never never give a simple or honest answer to a simple question

You mean like what we saw from both McCain and Obama in the debate?

That is not the point, the point is she is going to look like a fool on the world stage.

Just off the top of my head answers

Couric: Can you name a specific newspaper?
Palin: The Wall Street Journal/New York Times/Washington Post
Couric: Which writers do you follow?
Palin: Well, I generally just read the news sections, if a columnist writes a piece on an issue we're dealing with, someone will bring it to my attention.

Better answer: I don't read many opinion pieces Couric as I don't think they truly represent what the average person wants. If I come across a piece I think I might need to look into further I do, as well I have people who watch for pieces on current issues we are dealing with that might aid me in helping the average person.

OR:

Couric: Can you name a specific newspaper?
Palin: I do receive the New York times as well as my local newspaper (w/e the fuck that is). I also pick up multiple papers when campaigning to get a feeling of what the local population is dealing with. Luckily in this modern era, it is very easy to come across information be it on the television, internet, blogs and other outlets the public can use to voice there opinions.

Really, how hard was that?

I'll be disingenuous again.

Lol, so true. Loki hits the sour note "phony point" for the opposition WAY too often to be the Obama voter he otherwise professes to be.

In short, he's a transparent troll.

I'll see if I capture a video when I'm in the voting booth in november :p

my patience with palin has pretty much snapped, but I can't see "omg, she doesn't really read newspapers" resonating with voters when they don't either (and I wouldn't be surprised if Obama and McCain didn't read them beyond whatever their staffers clip out for their attention).

print is dying in this country precisely because no one is reading them.

Ah. but once again, loki8481 misses the point, the human voice is a universal means of communication, even if it comes out slightly muffled when both feet are deeply stuck up the mouth.

Some motor mouths are like Cassius Clay and Howard Cosell, we just root for Sonny Liston to put them in their place, and feel let down when the mighty Casey strikes out.

Other motor mouths are like Richard Nixon, Bobby Knight, and Sarah Palin, we feel so very vindicated when their Karma catches up to them.

You'll be in that booth, curtain drawn, with your camera phone.

Go on, then . . .

Be the internet hero you've always wanted to be.

Post a pic of your choices.

The Turing test was to have a person determine whether they are talking to a computer or a person.

When I watch a clip like that, I have to try to determine whether I'm watching Palin or Saturday Night Live. The Palin or Fey test.
