Hello, I am thinking about buying a nice and good multimeter with as many features as possible and I know that everyone says that Fluke MMS are the best, however they are a bit expensive for me right now. I was looking at this other brand, METEX, specifically their model M3860D. HAs anybody ever heard of this brand and model? Any ideas if its worth the $140 bucks. IT has True RMS reading btw. Thanks for your help.

As my dad used to say; "If you always buy second best, never in your entire lifetime will you own anything worth a damn".

It might sound old-school but I still think it's best to have both an analog and a digital MM. Digital MMs do come with lots of gimmicks like frequency, temperature and transistor gain but their main use is for precise measurement. Analog MMs, on the other hand, are still great for observing trends.

I'm using a Craftsman 82170, and it's great. It has a big screen w/ a backlight, plus dummy-proof connections on it. I'm not sure if it does any of the higher end things that you may be looking for, but it's been a great $60 investment for me.

I have the Craftsman Professional 82357 and I think it's a pretty good MM. It does everything I could want and more. As already mentioned, it has a big screen with a backlight. It has a PC interface though I have not tried it yet. It is also True RMS. I think it was worth the $130.
