Which MP3 player you think is the best...

For the ease of use, I pick Windows Media Player, cuz it just preinstalled on the Windows already so I dont wanna waste more space to download a new software.

I like foobar, as it has 4 channel (stereo x 2) sound, so I do not have to set up the audigy 2 to reinterperet stereo sound into 5.1 sound to get the rear speakers working. Much better sound I think.

In Winamp make sure you are using the DirectSound output plugin, and then in the plugin's preferences make sure the option for Hardware Accleration is enabled. This will get Winamp to play on all your speakers the same way Foobar does. (except the center channel in a 5.1 system, that will only work when playing a 5.1 source, though there is a plugin available that will even make the center channel work!)

Winamp 2.91 Why?

Like the interface.

Uses little memory, fast, loads instantly.

2.9x and above have a feature I cannot go without in a mp3 player, the Media Library 😀

When using the DirectSound output plugin with the option for Hardware Accleration enabled Winamp uses less than 1% CPU to play a mp3.

Huge selection of skins and plugins to use.

That did not work for me, I must have something configured wrong. Only works when I have CMSS 3d configured in Audigy software. Which is just remixed 5.1 sound.

another vote for Winamp 2.x

little resources, easy to use, "j" on keyboard to select song, tons of skins that can randomly change per song... what more do you want in an MP3 player?

Winamp 3.x is prettier, no question about that, but much higher resource usage and non-random skins is a killer.

winamp and foobar slowdown playback and get staticky
wmp8 doesnt do that for me.

anyone know wht preferences i can change to fix it
