at this point I've been considering
creative:
zen micro (6gb) $220
zen micro photo (8gb) $290
zen vision:M (30gb) $370

I don't need any photo or video cababilities, and would prefer a small player either flash or micro harddrive based. Ipod is not an option as it doesn't have a FM tuner.

Are there any other better alternatives out there. What would you choose?

I got the vision:m for $250 brand new when it first came out.

There is no way you should pay $370 for one.

And yes, it is the awesomeness... I recommend it.

I have the micro photo. I like it a lot but I think the photo feature is useless. The FM radio usually gets good reception.

FWIW, the reviews I've read say that the FM tuners in devices that small aren't that great, so probably the bigger MP3 player you get the better ;) Anyone on the forums care to chime in with actual experience?

I have a 6GB Zen Micro. Although I have over 900 CDs of music and another 200GB or so on hard drives, I only change songs out every 2 weeks. I use mine every day, on the way to and from work, and sometimes while I'm working on a document. I've had no issues with mine, and I also prefer the smaller players.

Creative Nano. Tiny mp3 player, good quality sound. Decent navigation. Great player....

Woa! It supports Divx and Xvid!

Damn that's the one I'd get if I were in the market.

Or you could just get a nano with a radio remote, which also improves SQ possibly (according to sime) and features a remote.

QFT. I got one and I love it. Has an FM tuner and the capability to actually record the radio. I tried it out and it's pretty cool.
