Whats up people, Im looking to buy a new mouse with extra buttons for gaming, I now use an IBM versatile scroll with 3 extra buttons, but does not work well with WinXp, so I need a new one, what do you guys use, since I eed oen for gaming!

thanx!

How much are you willing to spend?

The usual recommendations (I use them too) are MS Intellimouse Explorer and Logitech MX500.

dont even think about the mx500, so what if its corded, the resolution on the mx700 more than makes up for it. dont get the mx500, once you have tried the 700, you will wonder why you even considered the 500.

wow, lots of replies, thanx for the info, I'll check out the MS and the Logitech..........

as for a Razor, I have one, but are Xp drivers out?

Well, I have an MS IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0a AND a Logitech Dual Optical mouseman. I have to say that I prefer the dual optical over the IntelliMouse Explorer. The Explorer was great, but the Dual Optical was better and it fit my hand better than the 3.0a did, as well as felt more precise. The 3.0a is also different than the 3.0 in that the thumb buttons aren't as big as they are in the 3.0 version.

As much as I like the Dual Optical mouseman, I would have to say to buy the MX500 or MX700 instead. They are very impressive and I have used them both before. You definitely can't go wrong with the MX500.

P.S.
The only reason my IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0a is on the shelf right now is because of apparent incompatibilities with Linux installations (even ones from source such as my current distro, Gentoo) that aren't around when a Logitech mouse is used.

resolution and scan are the same on each... the mx500 and the mx700. Just one is cordless and the other isn't.

Another vote for MX700. I started using it after my Intellimouse Explorer died and I love it. I use it on a RatpadzGS and it's very accurate when sniping someone in your game of choice (Medal of Honor: Spearhead at the LANs my friends and I have).

logitech optical w/wheel

cost me less than 10.00 and it has been my best , longest lasting mouse ever

extremely accurate and even has a wheel button

Look like they have another one on the way. 2100. I had over 10 Razer BS' 1k and 2k. They were that good that I purchased that many. But I now use a Logitech D/O. Satisfied for the time being.
