Only mobil 1. Its cheap enough to use every 3000 miles, and it gives great protection. I just cant seem to find the 0w-30s they used to make.

More important than the kind/brand of oil is the time interval and mileage between changes and the environment your car is driven in.

I change at 3 months or 3000 miles now but am beginning to think that this may be a little unneccesary. I use Valvoline SynBlend for one year then Castrol Syn Blend the next to get the benifits of synthetic and the protection of dino oil both plus the benifits of bot oil additives. Just always change your filter with your oil.

My credentials: Never replace a transmission, clutch, rear end or engine and have driven many HIGH PERFORMACE cars well over 100,000 miles and raced them also.

Used to use pure 30 weight in summer and 10-30 in winter but now I stick to manufacterers recs and use 5-30 all year round. DONT use 10-40.

Look for the "API" logo on the bottle, and use the weight that your car's manufacturer calls for.

Consumer Reports (or someone like them) did a huge study on oil using a fleet of taxis over a period of years, tore the engines down and inspected them, checked all the maintenance records, etc etc, and the above is what they called for.

Mobil 1 10w30 - I change my oil only twice a year so I think going with a high quality synthetic makes more sense. (VW Owner)

I would agree that designer lables and synthetics are not necessary..........

The best thing you can do for your motor is change the oil and filter every 3000 miles..... and stay away from additives like slick 50.......

The only oil I tell people NOT to use it Castrol. Just about everymotor I have taken down that used castrol for a long time was caked up. The polymers they use thicken up to fast and the oil breaks down to sludge

I've always felt that way about Penzoil and stay away from it......... but I have no proof of that....

I get free oil changes for the lifetime of my car and they put in penzoil. I also get it changed every 3000 miles or sometimes a little less. Its amazing hwo dirty my oil is at 3000 miles. I also accelerate pretty hard and dont' really drive below 85 on the highways. As in my highway driving is like normal driving because I'm constantly getting stuck behind slow cars, then I'll fly around them and take it back up to 90 again...and I don't gradually accelerate up to 90 either

I hate my car, so I put the cheapest, sorriest, piece of crap oil I can find. This happens to be the Wal-mart brand oil. My 99 POS Ford Contour has 94K miles and it runs so who am I to complain. My reasoning is something will break on the car before the oil does something bad to the engine so why waste money on premium oil in the first place? If I had an Audi or BMW or whatever, then I might car about the oil brand. Even still I'd care more about how often I change it than the brand though. It's been about 6,000 miles so I guess it's time for a trip out to walmart...

I believe there was a study using different oils in thousands of cabs and running oil analysis on each one of them. Google around and you should find it. They didn't see a whole lot of difference between brands.

I use Pennzoil or Valvoline. Many of you're using Pennzoil if you use Jiffy Lube, since I believe they use Pennzoil exclusively.
