Which Motherboard for a Northwood 1.6ghz?

I'm thinking about trying these new Northwoods out. I have never had a Pentium system since Pentium 133's though! Do I need a new PSU? What motherboard should I get? I don't want to spend a lot, but I want to be able to get the 2.1ghz overclock out of the CPU. What are your suggestions?

Asus P4B266 is a popular choice.
You probably need a new PS if your does not have the 12 V connector. You can also buy an adpated for that.
The chepest way to go is buy the MSI or gigabyte sis 645 board. These will probably do 133 fsb without any problem. I have a gigabyte board which does 145 fsb. But I am returning it as it does not have the clear cmos jumper. (Otherwise it is a solid board for only $80)

If I were to purchase one now , I would go for the Asus P4B266 .

But I really dont know all the in's & out's Of this board😱 but so far I have not heard any complaints 😉

I cannot say enough about how much I like this board!!
As far as power supplies, the Asus board has a connector on it ( for the 2ndary Intel connector) that uses a standard Molex connector, so any power supply( sufficiently rated) will do. I have 3 cdr's, 3 10K scsi drives, etc, etc, and run them off an Enermax 350 Watt. No problemo.
I run my 1.8 at 132 fsb,( so the 1 to 1 cpu/ram timing won't kick in), and have the timings set to 3/4- for the cpu/ram- gives me smoking ram scores.

I have the MSI 645 Ultra which is running my 1.6A @ 133fsb
with stock cooling and no voltage increase. This is by far the
easiest overclock I have ever done and haven't even messed
with any settings yet. This board has a "CMOS jumper" and
will only put you back about $73. Good luck in your search.

I am getting the P4 1.6A soon as well. I am going w/ either the Asus P4B266 w/ Crucial DDR pc2100 or the Asus P4S333 w/ Corsair DDR pc2700. Just not sure which yet. Any suggestions from anyone? Both of these Asus mobos are very popular and either combo could be boought for around $300-$350 and will go over 2GHZ easy. Good luck.

Which of the ASUS boards is better? I've got the 333 and a 1.6A in my cart at Newegg, and it's just $240...seems like a good enough deal to me!

I have been weighing which Asus board is better for over a month now. Just when I think I have it figured out I change my mind. The P4s333 did get a little better scores then the P4b266 on the tweaktown review (9 of 10 stars P4s333 and 8 of 10 for the P4b266). I am still undecided. The P4s333 is a little cheaper. Tuff choice.

Epox 4BDA, or 4BDA2+, I can't recommend it high enough and it seems not a single person is having even the slightest problem with it. Here is my thread the first day after I got it on hardocp. Every other board mentioned so far in this thread has had people with problems. I spent weeks trying to narrow down my decision, and came to the conclusion that there wasn't a single problem associated with the epox ones. I tryed it and it's the best MB I have ever bought.
