I'd get an nforce4 ultra motherboard, not the via one. Read the anandtech reviews and determine from that which of those boards best fits your needs.

1)Get a DFI Nforce4 board

2)Make sure you buya 6600GT not a 6600 plain. Otherwise its a great mid range card that can be had very cheap.

3) Nforce chipset

4)Yes, all SLI boards can and will run perfectly with only one card installed

For me, I didn't need or want sli.

The a8n-e is great.

I would buy the ASUS A8N SLI Premium with no doubt.

No such thing as A8V-E SLi. I'd get the A8N-E at www.AMD.com/techtour --> You save about $150 overall. Pretty slick deal IMO. A8N-E's a great board btw.
