Get the ViewSonic or the NEC 20WMGX2, it's even better IMO. Very fast, good colors, OK for movies, if you don't mind the glossy coating. You could also wait for the NEC 20WGX2 Pro, which is just around the corner.

As for text, yes, it also happens on LCDs. The more pixels on screens, the proportionally smaller your text and icons. BUT - on CRTs you're flexible to use any supported resolution. On LCDs, you usually want to stick with your native res (which is also the maximum resolution) since all the others require interpolation (scaling) which deteriorates image quality. Please be aware that on a 20" widescreen, you should use your native 1680*1050 resolution, and many games don't support it. If you want to use the standard 4:3/5:4 aspects, you can either use 1280*1024 with black vertical and horizontal bars (the "active" window is pretty small in this case, around the size of your CRT) or you have to upscale the image maintaining aspect ratio (which screws up IQ a bit) or stretch it (which screws it up even more, due to distortion).
