P95F

I just won a bid for the Viewsonic P95F off of ebay which I hope to have at the end of the month. Iv owned two Viewsonic monitors so far and love them. Depending on your needs I would like to point out that the P95F has a higher max res the the two NEC monitors.

Hmmm this will be for mostly gaming and everyday college use.

I have only ever owned Gateway monitors and a SOny Trinitron 17". This is my first build so i dont know much about monitors and i am sure my monitors i have had in the past have sucked.

How much did you get the viewsonic off of ebay?

I am not trying to flame you or anything, but isnt 1600x1200 @ 88Hz enough? P95F could do 2,048 x 1,536 resolution at 68 Hz, not something an ordinary person would ever use. i use my 22'' gateway @ 1280x960. 1600x1200@85 looks fine but i just see no point as i dont place too many things on the desktop. Do a search in the video forum, and many will tell you Mitsu/NEC make some of the best available CRTs atm, dp-930 being their 19'' top of the line. those NF diamondtron tubes in P95F are made by mitsu anyway.

hmm thx for the input.

But is there really any diff between the 239 priced NEC and the dp930 which is 50 bucks more?

btw..how much was your 21inch..i was thinking of getting one...2 more inches for 300 bucks more is a lot

Radiohead, u have participated in recent monitor threads so I am not going to repeat myself. Just because a monitor will do a higher resolution does not mean it will display sharp text at that resolution. The 95+ is known for its poor geometry. Get what you want. And do not even think about a 22" unless you have a high quality video card. You ask why the 930 is more expensive and I have outlined that in recent threads you were in.

I just got a Viewsonic after doing comparisons in three different stores. My final choices came down to the NEC and the Viewsonic. It's a matter of taste. The NEC gives a clear picture, but it's just too soft compared to the Viewsonic. I like distinct separation of everthing in the picture. I like the sense of depth. Also, in every store I was in, the Viewsonics had the best color I've ever seen. It was bright and bold. There were shades of color I never even noticed before in wallpaper and in photos, people looked more "alive".

As I sit here looking at this forum on my 5 year old Mitsubishi DP900U, I'm inclined to nod towards the DP930SB. This is still one of the nicest monitors I've owned. I've gone through three desktops in that time, but one monitor. Works with whatever I hook it up to. They seem to last a long while (at least, mine has). Of course, when I bought mine 19" monitors were still $600-$700 for the good ones.

i would also check out accurateit.com. They sell refurbished monitors, and i have an IBM P260, which is a 21" monitor that can run 1600x1200@85hz, 1920x1440@75hz, or 2056x1536 (or whatever it is) @ 60hz. Its a really great deal and only costs about 250 dollars. I can't even tell mine is a refurb, it looks brand new. I would definately recommend accurateit to anyone.

i dunno, the whole refurbished idea seems kinda weird. What if it breaks?

And they dont have a wide selection, i dont know which one is better then the other.
