Which monitor should I get?

There's a few more factors to take into account. Will you be using the monitor for non-computer tasks (consoles, TV, etc)? Viewing distance?

Since your primary use is office-ish, I would vote for the Samsung. The higher resolution is nice for those few extra lines in a document or code window. Plus, the pixel density on the 27" 1080p monitors at normal computer viewing distances is horrible. This means -- at normal desk viewing distances -- text will be large, blurry, and subpixel antialiasing will look pretty bad. *However*, this issue goes away if you start viewing it at a further distance.

I used a 32" 1080p LCD for a while at slightly greater than normal viewing distances, and it may have looked pretty good for gaming, for office type work it sucked.

In any case, that's just my opinion. I should disclaim I enjoy uber high pixel densities and IPS panels, ala the Dell U2711, so my opinion is a bit biased. Nearly all TN panels, however, are going 1080p, so if you think you're interested in a 1920x1200 display, grab one before they become even more rare.

If you *do* go with a 1080p display, that Asus is pretty solid if I have my model number right. Plus it does give you a variety of inputs.

I ended up buying the Acer. I wanted the adjustable stand. Its a nice looking monitor. Even though the pixel density is lower, It doesn't really bother me. I sit about 2 feet away. Also gaming with this monitor is quite good. The extra size and resolution awesome. I went from a 22" LG 1680x1050 to this monitor which is 1080p. Picture quality is also excellent. There is some back light bleeding at the bottom of the screen, but after running it for some hours it seems to have lessened. I don't know how but it did. Maybe the screen needed to break in? So I give this monitor a thumbs up. Even though I have less pixel density that before, I still get more screen real estate because of the higher resolution, and Its a much larger screen than I had before. And like I said before the adjustable stand is what sold me on this over the Asus.

I would recommend.
