Which Monitor Is Better?

Which monitor is better dollar for dollar, the Samsung SyncMaster 955DF or the Viewsonic PF790? Can't decide. please help.

Well first off these are two really different monitors. The Viewsonic PF790 uses a trintron tube while the Samsung DynaFlat series uses a Invar Shadow mask tube i believe.

Wildcard, sorry in advance if I'm wrong,b ut I don't think all the Dynaflat line uses Shadowmask Tubes! (i'm actually pretty sure).

SAMSUNG is also the first manufacture to make TRUE flat tubes using shadowmask technology.
I personally love my Dynaflat monitor! I'd grab the samsung!

No, ALL DynaFlat are made by Samsung and they're based on invar shadow mask. The line that doesnt use shadow mask is call NaturalFlat(NF), based on Mitsubishi DiamondTron, totally different from DF.


Wildcard: ViewSonics are based on DiamondTron, not Trinitron.

Neither, best bang for the buck is the NEC FE950. I view several different brands of monitors everyday and this is my opinion. Flame me if you want 🙂😀:disgust:

Never said that I was a &quot;Know it All&quot;, just expressing my opinion. I do know that I've had to RMA more Samsung monitors here recently than in the past. Value is NOT value if you are continuously having to pay return shipping on monitors that should have worked right the first time around. Besides, the FE950 is &quot;Peachy&quot; to my eyes.

Can you guys help me i have a Radeon Video card if I get a samsung 900 nf will i have trouble with that waves in monitors that other people been having???

x86guy: Im just saying, the Samsung 900NF is based on the same tube as that NEC so it should look just as good if not better. The specs are superior, and the price is just $20 more.

I've had the same problems with the 955DF and NF's. The only way I was able to resolve this issue was to set the refresh rate to 100 Mhz. Just hope that your video card will support refresh rates that high. The monitors can with no problem.

This Radeon problem I keep reading about - is it an issue where the monitor display is waving, or a particular corner/region of the monitor jitters?
