I was given a SB Live card but not sure which model it is. What I really want to know is if it's a 5.1 card or not. On the card in the top right hand corner is says Model CT4780. Is this a normal or Value card?

If it's a 5.1 card there will be an additional SPDIF port on the back (looks like a 1/8" jack like the rest though). I can verify this when I go home.

Well the output of this card has from left to right:

Orange connector labeled digital out
Blue connector labeled line-in
Pink connector labeled mic-in
Green connector labeled speaker out 1
Black connector labeled speaker out 2
Yellow MIDI/Game port

I know sometimes the digital out is used as the last output for 5.1 but only labeled as digital out.

That actually makes it more confusing, Thorin. :D There are both Live! Value cards and 5.1 cards using the same chip. You can get a digital output from a Live! value card with an addon bracket, however.

If you have a card with "digital out" on it, that pretty much says it. It's a 5.1 card. I am not sure if the 5.1 card supported dolby decoding or not. I always used the digital port.

Ok so then the digital out is the center channel/subwoofer out on this model? If so I plan on using it to replace my Live Value I have now and getting a 5.1 speaker set.
