Which modchip do i want?

No. I did mine in a matter of minutes once I got the box opened up. Once you take a few good looks at the mobo and how the adapter goes on, it's easy.

After you do that, how would one go about flashing the bios on it?

Cool, i think i may go that route.... Been looking around xbox-scene and didnt seem too bad...

Then i gotta figure out how to swap the hd 🙂

Mine came with a USB cable, so I just hooked it up to my laptop and flashed it using the software that comes with it. I bought an X-Chip and haven't been happier.

Swap it? It's all standard computer hardware as far as the hard drive is concerned. Same ribbon cable, same power connector, everything. Get a larger hard drive to put in before you tear it apart to put the mod chip in.

Slayer's Autoinstaller

No downloads available at that site, except for the manual (read it!) and the MD5 sums for the ISO so you can download it from various different protocols and trackers. 😉

Xbox-Scene has disassembly tutorials and other cool stuff. Make sure you have a Torx 10,15, and 20 handy, or you'll BBQ the box. 😛

So i guess the big difference between the X-Chip and the Spider is that the X-Chip can be programmed via USB?

Hmmmmm, i guess thats worth the extra $20

Holy crap, I can't believe you're STILL making threads about this.

PM me and I'll hook you up with a friend of mine who will mod your XBox. He doesn't charge too much (forget exactly what) and he does a great job. He's done hundreds of Xboxes, literally. Everyone will be happier this way.

Not if it's YOUR OWN THREAD. Not if you've already made a bazillion threads about it.

No doubt - I think this is xbox thread #23103 for aphex. Concidentally, that's how many posts he has!

If my threads bother you so much, why do you waste your time crapping in them?

My solderless Xenium Ice has never come loose once and I am constantly moving it from room to room in my house. Perhaps I am just lucky, but I haven't had any trouble yet.

Don't be a pussy 🙂 Do the solder job. It's not really that hard.

I hate soldering, i have the shakiest hands ever.

I had to desolder the holes where my chip went. It was a PITA, but I didn't want to have issues with the chip moving.

I love my Xenium Ice.

Ok, im FINALLY buying one today...

Do i want the Xenium Ice w/ Solderless Adapter or Xecuter 2.6 CE w/ Solderless Adapter?

From what i see, the Xenium seems to be tempermental and not as easy to use...

All i want to do for now is get XBMC on there, maybe add a hard drive later. I have no use for LCD's, LED's, Switches, etc...

The easier the better 🙂
