Hey everyone,

Which motherboards can support the P3-1.0ghz CuMine by default? I have one for my P3B-F but it detects it as something else and only lets me run it at 8.0x multiplier (max). I had to overclock it to 124mhz FSB to get it running at close to 1.0ghz. (992mhz) I can't even push it to 133mhz (but that might be the rest of my components)

What do you guys think?

The gigahertz core P3's are speced at 7.5*133, so your motherboard should be able to support it. Have you even tried using it yet?

No, this chip is 10 x 100mhz FSB.

I'm using it right now - it's at 8x124.

Lore you are mistaken. Intel NEVER EVER EVER produced a 1.0Ghz based on a 100Mhz FSB, even the slot1 is 133Mhz.

Secondly the multiplier is locked on the CPU, meaning it is hard coded, cannot be changed. Even if the board doesn't support the multiplier needed it doesn't matter because the chip is designed with the multiplier set to whatever it needs. The multiplier part is in the CPU not the motherboard.

Intel Processor Specification Update, September 2000

Take a look at this, Warrenton. On page 4 you will see the 100mhz FSB dual-processor chip matrix (this shows if the chips are compatible in dual-processor applications) and on page 5 you will see the 133mhz FSB chip matrix.

Intel Datasheet

Here's another one - look at the FIRST page and you will see they make both a 133mhz and 100mhz version, and then look at page 27.

So they do make em, right?

Well in that case I must've been mistaken... perhaps they made a 100MHz bus version along with the CC0 stepping upgrade. Right now there aren't too many motherboards that support 10X multiplier, but I'm pretty sure my CUSL2 does. You will have to check the ASUS webpage about that as I'm not too sure
