Which Mobo's do these Pent-M work in?

OP - you link is not working, ... anyway i beleive they work in any mobo with the 479 to 478 pin adaptor .. i think i have seen them mainly on an asus (not sure which one).. but am not totally sure..

So does it fit in s478 mobos?

According to Intel they sell 478 and 479 pin Pent-M if this is the case whats the last pin for? Something is not making sense here?

Arrrrggg. Ill try to explain this again. It WILL NOT fit at all. They made a mistake. Dothan based CPUs have 479 pins. It will not fit into yout motherboard period.

The only way you can possibly do it, is if you buy Asus's CT-70 adaptor and use it in specalized mobos that are designed to work with it.

So are you saying Intel,NewEgg,ZipzoomFly, and many other think they have s478 pin CPU and they don't

And hey there is no reason to be an a$$ about it.

Its because the mobo has 479 holes but the cpu has only 478pins 🙂

This sounds likely. Regardless of them saying 478, the chips won't work in any normal P4 motherboard (except for certain Asus boards with the adaptor).

They will work on 2 mobos for the desktop stock:

DFI 855GME-MGF Socket 479
Aopen i855GMEm-LFS

Otherwise you need the CT-479 adaptor from asus. The Aopen is the only one that allows aftermarket heatsinc, but it is unnecessary unless you are doing passive cooling...

Ill elaborate further the pentium-m has a different config of pin in the top right of the chip which means it wont physically fit into a s478 mobo.
Imagine the below is the corner

....
...... < normal pentium 478 northwood etc. mobo + cpu
......

.....
...... < Pentium M series motherboard
......

.....
.... . < underside view of pins of pentium M cpu
......

So physically same number of pins on pentium M cpu but 1 is in different position

All Pentium M's have 478 pins. They call them 479 so people don't see 478 and assume they work in desktop boards. Or so I was told.

You need the asus adapter + an asus 865 or 875 board.
