Which mobo for a 939 90nm?

I've been reading horror stories about people trying to get their Asus A8V to work with a 90nm CPU. Apparently, most of the time the machine won't even post until you update the bios with a 130nm CPU. That just sounds like such a potential pain in the ass. What's the best choice when it comes to a motherboard for a 90nm CPU? At this point I don't really care about features, I just want it to actually work without a huge hassle.
 
I thought if you have the ram in b1 and only 1 stick in and boot off of a floppy you can update the a8v without any problems (havent ordered yet so could be wrong)
