Which memory slots do you use?

This is probably a dumb question to most you guys...but which slots do you use for memory? I have 2 gig of Gskill and right now I have them in slot 1 and 3 am I degrading the memory capabilities by having them in that configuration or is that the correct slots for DDR2?
