Okay - so you say to go ahead and get the 3700's. Which ones should I get - the Corsair XMS 512mb single sticks, or the Corsair TwinXMS matched pairs? Also, if you don't mind can you or somebody explain why single is better than TwinXMS or vice versa.

And your sure that this is a better way to go as far as performance, and the future? A lot of people keep pushing the 3500 Corsair XMS single sticks or the Kingston 3500 HyperX single sticks.

Thanks for all input.

Thanks, but I've seen this before. Also, I'm planning on getting the ASUS P4C800-E Deluxe board. I also heard that I should ignore that list and either get the XMS 3500 or the XMS 3700 - But I really want to know the pro's and cons between the 2 speeds(3500 & 3700), as well as the pros and cons between the XMS and TwinXMS.

Pros and Cons: Speed: The manufacturer will tell you that they test each speed to run at that latency. Supposedly, PC3700 at the SPD latencies is tested to work in that config. same for the PC3500. Now, how much of a difference in performance you get between the two at different SPDs would be up to the benchmarks.

TwinX vs XMS : Supposedly, the manufacturer tests two sticks of XMS in a specified setup and verifies the sticks work together. The sticks are then placed in a TwinX package. My understanding is that the success rate of this qualification is pretty high and most pros will say buy single sticks if it's cheaper, else, buy twin...

The tricky thing is that all manufacturers over overclocked (PC3500 and PC3700) types of memory will make about a million statements about different setups running differently and nothing being guaranteed overclocks - which means don't count on anything just from spending more money.

I own a P4P800 Deluxe and 1 512 mb stick of XMS PC3200LL rev 1.1 which won't run 2-2-2-6-4bank at 2.75 v to pass goldmemory. I had to set CAS to RAS to 3 to get 2-3-2-6-8bank 2.65v and I'm happy with that. If I had it to do over again, I'd buy 512 mb sticks of HyperX PC3500 as they'd be $30 cheaper (at the time, from newegg) and would (from reports) obtain similar speeds.

PSST: There's no PC4000 you can buy, yet.
