hi y'all
I'm buying a P4 1.6a and i'm not quite sure on wich motherboard to choose:
- I was considering the ASUS P4S333 because with it i can run the CPU at 100mhz and the memory at 166mhz. I wanted to know if i can run the CPU at 133 and the memory at 166? Anyway i wanted to know what do you guys think about this MB.

- The other options are either ABIT BD7-RAID, ASUS P4B266 or go with RDRAM.
Give me your thoughts and comments...
cheers :)

Of the ASUS Pentium 4 boards, the P4S333 provides the best performance out of the box with PC2700 DDR SDRAM. Unfortunately, this board does not overclock too well.

If you want to overclock, you are better off getting the ASUS P4B266(-C). Both the P4S333 and the P4B266 are great performers and very stable.

Where did you read that the P4S333 does not overclock well? Most reviews I read stated they got to the mid to high 150 FSB range.

<< Get an I-850 board, and use Rdram >>

Not if you want to overclock it up to the 2.4GHz range. The RDRAM boards and RDRAM don't handle that kind of an overclock too well.. if at all.

I was also considering MSI 645 Ultra its sur is cheap, but from my understanding we cannot raise the voltage beyong 1.6V. So that could be a prolem in OCIng the board. But other than this I havent heard of any problems. With its cheap price y can infact go for the 1.8a instead of 1.6a what do uys think?
