Eli has 2 rings. Case closed.

Trent Dilfer and Brad Johnson have 1 ring each. Dan Marino, Dan Fouts, Jim Kelly, and Warren Moon have none. Case closed -- Dilfer and Johnson are better.

Jim Plunkett has 2 rings. Therefore, he and Elway are equally great. Well, except for the fact Plunkett never lost a Super Bowl whereas Elway lost 3, so I guess that means Jim Plunkett is better.

Don't forget about rapesliger. He is 2X as good as peyton.

There are others I left off the list as well, such as the immortal Mark Rypien, Jim McMahon, and Doug Williams -- all with 1 ring each. Those guys must be equal to Peyton at a minimum. Oh wait -- they're also undefeated in the SB, so they must be better! Just like Plunkett must be better than Elway!

And I suppose those using this logic would consider someone going to a Super Bowl and losing better than someone who never made it, right? So that means the legendary Tony Eason, the incomparable Pat Haden, and the surely Canton-bound Chris Chandler must be better than Dan Fouts and Warren Moon.

I can't answer Archie as I've never seen him play. Between the two Manning boys it would definitely be Peyton. Eli has more rings but football is not won by just one player. For much of career Peyton led a top-5 offense and was saddled with a bottom-3 defense. The one year they had a mediocre defense they won the super bowl. Hell, in many of those years their offense was one-dimensional as they had no running game and he still got it done. The Giants' two rings came in years their running game and defense got hot at the right time. Eli is very good but he's also had a better team around him.

On this subject, I think Peyton is the better passer, but I think Eli has surpassed him as the better QB. Eli is more clutch and a better field leader.

da fuck are you on?

you SERIOUSLY think that the colts receiving core is better than Manningham, Cruz, and Nicks?

you think Adai is better than Bradshaw?

gtfo of here...

the only reasly eli DOES have good stats is because his receivers bail the shit out of him. there were so many circus catches this year that Cruz caught and YAC that eli just happened to be tossing his way.

im not saying he sucks or anything, but he is nowhere near the level of Peyton. like it's not even close.

this.

yeah, giant's have a good WR core. I would not say the colts had a bad one though...but Peyton has always had Wayne.

Peyton's receiving group was top notch when he had Harrison, Wayne, Stokely, and Clark back in the 2004 timeframe. An older Wayne, Garcon, and Collie aren't as good, but they're still probably an above-average group of receivers. There was an article yesterday about how Peyton's production has tailed off since then but the article missed some key details -- the Colts have lost good receivers, age has caught up with them, and their offensive scheme changed quite a bit since then.

And now, we don't have Manning and it looks like Wayne and Garcon might be gone. Rumor is that Clark may be gone shortly too. 🙁 I read this morning that the Colts are trying to trade Freeney as well. I already feel bad for Andrew Luck because he is going to have a couple of rough years.

Peyton has leadership, which is important. Eli has the mechanics but isn't quite as active of a leader... just kind of goes with the flow.

Eli is also a much better athlete and plays more like his dad did. Peyton is just much more cerebral and knows the game better.

he was better with harrison. wayne was a nobody and became a somebody ONLY because of peyton manning. he didn't do dick this past season because he didn't have peyton.

awesome receivers are still good even when they don't have an awesome qb. an awesome receiver makes even a crappy qb look good.

that's why eli looked good... no, eli isn't crappy, but he's certainly not peyton. eli is, honestly, a decent quarterback. not awesome, but not bad.

teams that win typically don't win because they have superstar quarterbacks and decent receivers. they win because they have a coach who knows how to make the receivers and quarterback work at their optimal level together, regardless of how awesome they are.

In fairness, not many receivers would do dick when you have Curtis Painter "throwing" to you (or in this case, the nearest defender).
