Which Male Singer do you think has the best voice?

In the last 20 years. To me it's a toss up between Maynard James Keenan, Layne Staley and the guy from SOAD.

No poll, because there would have to be endless nominees. 🙂

Who?

If I could choose anyone's voice to have as my own singing voice, I'd choose Jack Johnson. He may not have the most talented vocals, but it sure is calming and soothing.

Maynards good but I dont think you could label him best "singer". It would probably be someone not in the rock world.

My friend told me he had watched/listened to a clip where Maynard did a perfect impression of the sound a 28.8 modem makes. If it's true, that's impressive vocal control.

Almost definately some guy from way back in the day, or some kind of opera singer. For modern and rock I would have to say Jeff Buckley, RIP.

As for whose I like the best, I would have to say Isaac Brock of Modest Mouse and Ugly Cassanova. His voice, while arguably the worst in the industry (he has a huge lisp), fits the music perfectly. I cannot imagine him singing anything else, nor can I imagine anyone else singing his music. It is the most original, refreshing voice out there today, imo. I can't put him at the best though, because it obviously isn't that. It's just nice to hear something completely different.

Louis Armstrong
Percy Mayfield
Elvis
Bob Dylan (yes...his old stuff is tremendous)
John Lennon/Paul McCartney
Tom Waite
Bono
Robert Plant
Frank Sinatra

forget the last 20 years...aren't that many worthy 😉
