Which make of 1950XTX? [Updated...]

Hi again, just wondering what make of GFX card you would recommend for a 1950XTX between a HIS and a Connect3D? Thanks! 🙂

(Or is there no difference at all? All I can notice is that HIS say they use IceQ cooler while Connect3d says they use ATI cooler, any difference?)

It seems ATI adopted a similar cooler to IceQ, so I don't think there'll be much of a difference. Either should be fine.

Nice cooler, though! Glad ATI got rid of those computer case turbines. It cooled well, but oh, the noise. Fire up Oblivion, and you'll swear your mother-in-law's drying her hair in the bathroom downstairs. 🙂

The stories I've heard about HIS customer support haven't been flattering, but I think the main reason is that they're based in Hong Kong and don't have a very large (as of yet, at least) customer service presence here in the states. Their card I'm using is rock solid, though - and it was an open-box buy from the Egg. 😕

I haven't heard anything about Connect's CS. Unfortunately, BFG and eVGA aren't on this side of the vid card camp. :frown:

Connect3D in my previous experience has good tech support. They actually answered the phone when I called them (good thing, it was long distance).

Thing I did NOT like about them was they skimped so badly on the cooling of that 9600 I got - no thermal paste (environmental hazard to them) and no printed manual (save the trees) :disgust: OK being careful is one thing but they took it too far IMO. That was the worst purchase ever that I made, first was DOA, second fried itself due to heat, third I sold before it had a chance to die. Both the 1st and 2nd ones had problems with these random colored dots appearing on the screen every so often.

Now it looks like they use the exact same cooling method as any other ATI GPU-based card but I've got a sour taste in my mouth after my experience so I don't know if I can recommend them.

Thanks for the replies, looks like they use the same cooler which is nice (IceQ 3) 🙂 So tbh Im less woried about the Connect3D now (they must have improved since 9600? At least I hope :Q ) However, I prob go with Connect for support, worth the extra £5 for me. Thanks again both of ya 😀

Oops, sorry, have to add SAPPHIRE to the list, just found they are the same price, any opinions on them? Thanks a bunch! 😱

Their cards are OK but their warranty stinks. They are located overseas so getting a defective card to them is a pain and expensive. I didn't know this until a few months ago and since then I won't buy sapphire.

Ok thanks 🙂 Been a great help, but one last question, what is your experience with the other cards warranty? Thanks again! 😀

connect3D? Very helpful. I called them and explained the problem, and they gave me an RMA number and address to ship to right on the spot. There was a little mixup and they sent me the wrong card but when I called them about it they apologized and shipped me the right one with 2 day shipping and provided me with a UPS account number to ship the wrong one back to them.
