From one Avalanche owner to another: Keep the Avalanche.

Slurp. <- the sound of your truck drinking the gas. 😉

Actually the 5.3L is very efficient, which is what i assume he has, i get about 23 mpg highway on mine

I find that damned near impossible to believe.

check the specs for the Vortec 5300

with proper maintanance and good driving habits its very possible

I also have a tonneau cover which helps a great deal on the highway

It says 16/20...which in my experience is more likely 14/17. Manufacturers generally over estimate fuel economy so they can avoid being labeled as gas guzzlers. Also, when testing for fuel ecomony they usually do so under ideal test conditions.

My Maxima is rated at 20/26 but the average is more like 18/23. My Tundra was rated 16/19 but I almost never got more than 16mpg out of that truck. I usually averaged around 14-15mpg between fillups.

i'd say TL...but i like the pre-2002 model better

I was shopping for an RSX for my friend and I see alot of those (pre 2002 TL) on Acura's dealers lot. I believe I read somewhere that they(pre 2002 TL) have some transmission problem.

I believe the transmission problems came with 6-speed 99's and 2000-2003/4 models. People were going through like 3-4 transmissions.

Probably due to missed shifts more than anything.

EDIT:

I wouldn't get any of those with exception of a TL 3.2 type S

Was just about to say that.

The TL is the best out of that group by a longshot.

Luxury = 50K+

🙂 My Cavalier get's around 40mpg (Imperial), and it's not even considered one of the "efficient" cars.
