For 429.52 after tax and shipping(dell). Also, is the widescreen aspect going to be unfavorable for many applications? The dell site says i need to have 1680x1050 for optimized performance, but i checked under my display tab and i dont see that 🙁. It goes up to 2048x1536. Does that mean i wont have a widescreen aspect compatible video card and that it wont work? Also, would you recommend this monitor over the other two?? Also, id like the monitor to be 19 inch with a dvi and no ghosting if you can find a cheaper, better one. Thanks.

The 1905fp for around $300 shipped (less if you live in a state they don't tax) is a heck of a deal right now. It also comes with a DVI cable - as far as I remember from shopping around most don't.

Mentioning what games/purposes for which this monitor will be used is helpful as well.

Oh sorry. The reason i didnt want to get the 1905 because of the 20ms response time, and thats borderline ghosting. The main games i will be playing are WoW/CoD/Some HL2/CS, and then web browsing and such. Does the 2005fpw come with a dvi cable?

You'll likely get very mixed opinions here. Some will tell you the 1905fp is a great monitor; some will tell you it's terrible. It's really going to be up to you to decide.

The response times cannot always be compared as there is no standardized method in which manufacturers test this. To my knowledge they all use their own way to measure response time.

I'm fairly certain any Dell monitor with DVI capability comes with a cable.

I decided to go with the Dell because of the price, performance, and warranty. In my mind they have the best mix of those three criteria at this time. I simply cannot buy one from most places (specifically NewEgg) due to their unacceptable dead pixel policies.

Is there any distortion during gaming because of the different aspect ratio?

If you set the monitor to fill the screen there will be distortion if you play a game in 4:3 ratio on the 16:10 2005FPW. You can however, set the monitor to display the image in the correct aspect ratio so it leaves black bars on the sides of the screen. Apparently the 2005FPW can actually display 1280x1024 natively.

A lot of the games you list like HL2 and WoW support the native 1680x1050 widescreen resolution of the 2005FPW, so you should be fine so long as you have a decently powerful graphics card that can handle the high resolution of the monitor with newer games (something in the range of a X800XL or 6800GT is what you need for HL2, for example).

Also, all Dell monitors come with a DVI cable. The provided cables are actually pretty beefy, in fact.

I play Battlefield 2 on a 2005fp at 1280x1024 and see no problems. Only problem is that the game doesn't support wide aspect (or does it?). I have a Radeon 9700.

Monitor came with cables.
