LCD monitor have 2 little things that bug me and hold me to buy:The RT(response time) , and the pixels(dead pixels), sometime you can lose in your screen, that compagny refuse to warranty. http://www.hardware.fr/articles/519/page1.html its a french site, u can use an online translator to tranlsate. But its not to scare you im telling you that, only about 3% of LCD monitor can sometime have problems.

For the RT response, well, anything over 16 is not recommanded. To make the difference, a CRT monitor got a response time of 0.What that does?Well you can see it in gaming mostly, like in FPShooter and you turn around, youll see that when u turn, you have an effect of bluriness.Thats the 2 reasons why i refuse atm to buy a LCD

I cannot recommand you any brand, since ALL compagny have the same problem(about pixel) but make sure you get 16 or less RT, or you will regret it.Oh and make sure you get a contract of 500 and up.Ask question when u buy

Here is a french site( canadiens fund ) where they show the monitor u can maybe get: http://www.info-materiel.com/moniteur.html it tell you the RT(R) respons time( in green)

I bought a Viewsonic vx910 19"lcd with a 16ms response time and I think its great. Its not as sharp as a CRT but the brightness of colors makes up for it.

I have a Samsung 192t currently and its great for everything I do including gaming. I would get another Samsung without a second thought.

If you don't plan on gaming I would think just about any of the big name LCDs (Samsung, Sony, Dell, Viewsonic) would work for you. Just make sure you get one with DVI. If you can try to swing by a Best Buy or CompUSA or someplace similiar so you can check a few out. You may have to hassle them into actually hooking them up to a comp with DVI as opposed to a giant video splitter though.

Do you have a budget?

thanks guys for your input. My budget is between $400 and $500. I'm leaning to a Samsung, I have read quite a few reviews, and there is noone that complains about them.

best regards
