Which laser printer is compatible with remote desktop?

I have someone asking me about wanting to use a local printer with a remote desktop connection. I am very surprised at how little information is available around the web.

General consensus seems to be if I have an HP LaserJet from 10 years ago, it will work - short of that I'm just wasting time and money. Apparently all host-based printers are incompatible, which throws out most new HP LaserJets. HP lists off some host-based printers in a document, but nowhere do they have a list saying what printers are non-host-based.

Anyone know anything about other brands? Brother perhaps? Anything at all?

Hi cubby1223

Check this support article out. It pretty much explains how to get remote desktop printing working for any local printers.

By default, when you try to print from a program that is running on a computer that you are connected to with a Remote Desktop connection, you can gain access to printers that are available to the remote Windows XP Professional-based computer. You can make a local printer (for example, a printer that is on the client computer) available for printing. This article describes how to make a local printer available for printing while you use the Remote Desktop feature.

I know about that article. It's just not that simple.
