While the remake of FF7 has nothing official, I remember reading something where they stated something about Cloud being in the picture. Probably just going to make another movie. I don't know why they don't make a remake of FF7 I think it would have the potential to pretty much be the best selling game of all time. Not to mention it would move A LOT of PS3's, so it would be in Sony's best interest get SE off their ass and make it.

On another note FF13 could as well be the new 7. No one knows.

Not the biggest FF fan but I really enjoyed 6 on the snes. FF4 is great and I really dug FF12's from the little I played.

ugh..one person voted for 8. What a pile that was.

FF 287: Etheral Quest 5-D

complete with the Neural interface with Force Feedback version 3.1, of course. Oh wait, what year is this? Nevermind. I was never here. I never wrote that.

One more question for you, any of these similar to Baldurs Gate 2 or PlaneScape Torment (in terms of dialog and character interaction, I know the setting differs).

Woot all FFXII fans unite!

FF IV - FFVIII + FFXII I like.

FFI is not so bad but it can get tedious.

The voice acting for FF X made the game unplayable for me...

VII was my first, it was alright.

VIII was my second, it was great, loved the romance part too, good graphics as well.

IX was my third, it was interesting, more old school than VII and VIII, not overally memorable though.

X was the beginning of the end for me and Final Fantasy, story was depressing, game dragged on, and I didn't even finish it once I found out how it ended.

X-2 was one I got with X, but never played it

XI was the one that should not have been called XI.

XII was the one I bought, but also never got around to playing. I think, unless XIII is completely amazing, which it could be since it goes back to "techno" like VII and VIII and has the VIII team making it, I will probably be completely done with FF.

You forgot the Tactics/Legends branches, and Crystal Chronicles. But they won't get many votes anyway. 😉

I haven't played much before VII (Like many people) (Except MQ, my first RPG!)

VII was awesome. VII is to RPGs what Goldeneye is to FPS. I could play through it 100 times and never get sick of it. The materia system is probably my favorite Final Fantasy system to date.

VIII had awesome characters and an awesome story line, but I really... really hated the Junction system and the fact that it was actually easier to play the game trying NOT to level-up.

IX was above average in every category, the side quests were fun and the game was just jam-packed with a solid story, classic battle system, and well-rounded characters. The only problem with IX is that nothing about it left me wanting more.

X is probably my favorite. It was a huge step up in terms of graphical quality and ability, and the truth is I really can't find too much to complain about with it. It's a stretch, but the only REAL complaint I can give is that it might be too linear. If you wrote out each step you had to take to advance the plot, there would be few or no points where it branches out.

X-2 was crap. I was excited at first because it was cool that they actually did a follow-up to one of them, but the plot sucked, the battle system sucked, and it was 90% a rehash of a game that I had already played. I couldn't even finish it, so I don't know if the ending was worth it. It actually annoyed me that there were multiple endings, too. I hate that, unless it's just a few minor cutscenes added in for completing a certain task.

Never played XI. Is it worth the cost to play online? Is it still popular? Is there and offline mode?

XII... I'm halfway through right now. I love the battle system. The characters started out as really cool... I like the license grid... but as it goes on it just gets dumb. Why bother with the license grid if you're going to restrict when you can purchase spells and armor and such? It should all be available within the first 1/3 of the game if you are going to do it that way... even if you have to take some roundabout way to get some spells and such. The characters... geez... I'm told I'm only a few hours of plot advancing from the end and there has been NO character development. Aside from learning a small bit of backstory no character has overcome some critical flaw or made a change in their personality. I like that you can wander off to new areas before you have to, but I think that if you are going to do it, you should have it more or less unrestricted and allow someone to wander nearly ALL main paths and areas and just block off certain places at the ends of those paths.

MQ was fun, but way to linear, even for an SNES era RPG. It was redundant and the plot seemed like more of an afterthought. Well-worth the $10 I paid for it back in the SNES days, but it's at the bottom of the food chain in terms of rankings.

My vote is for X.

8. squall is THE best character...hands down. 8 had the best story, awesome graphics (for ps1), great character development and interaction...man, its so good.

9 was horribly underrated too. i loved 9. 6 was great, as well as 10. im in the middle of playing 12 and so far, its good too. takes a while to level up, but its worth it.

FF8 was the best. I don't know why so many people hated it because I loved it. FF7 was freaking awesome as well. FFX was nice. FF9 was my least favorite but it was still a very good game. Haven't plyed 12 yet but I have it and I'm gonna get to it one day.

Talking about this though makes me want to go buy FFXIII and FFXII again. I can find FF8 for cheap but FF7 is like $60. still so much demand for that eh. i wish there was a way I could play it without forking up $60-65

SNES RPGs were some of the most non-linear. Play FFIII/VI sometime...you can literally do whatever you want in the second half of the game.

That space scene really was something else, eh?

Oh yes.

And I liked that they handled time travel/manipulation and memory loss in a not-stupid manner.

Such a tough time choosing between 4 and 6... I ended up going with 6.

Yeah, right... like anyone would vote for it 😛
I thought it was a fun rental, though.

While nowhere near my favorite I'm a little surprised at all the dislike for X-2. I looked at it more as an expansion for X than a game by itself. The job system made for more teamwork and group possibilities, like tactics or 9. (which both rocked) I guess I enjoyed X so much I just enjoyed spending more time in that world.
