Which is the most easy to install- Taisol or the Global win for a tbird?

I know that installing a HSF is a pain in the ass. Last time I tried it with the damn Global win FOP32-1 I wanted to rip-out that damn thing and throw it out the window at the nearest passerby with the choicest of words.
I now need another HSF for my new Tbird 900. As far as I know Alpha is out of stock everywhere. So I looking at the Taisol.I know its pretty good and damn cheap but is it easier to install it.

I haven't used a Taisol, so I dunno. I have installed a GW FOP-32 recently. I don't know what the GW folks in Taiwan are smoking, because the assymetric "M" clip exerts too much pressure on the CPU. About twenty pounds of dangerous overkill. For this evil, malicious disregard for the "health" of a million glass CPU's, I award GlobalWin the Golden Jackass trophy, for the year 2000.

Shh, OK? www.3dfxcool.com may have the Alpha PAL-6035 in stock. It masquerades under a different name, something like the Alpha 7HO.

as great as the fop38 is.... i tried for friggen' 4 FULL hours and still cant get the dam thing on the socket. (read my other post for further info on this, titled "do you own fop38&quot

i ended up using the stock heat sink... only able to oc from 650 to 800 due to stability problems which methinks caused by overheating.

whatever you do, dont get these f*cking globalwins. unless you can get a better clip... hey, speaking of which, is it possible to purchase different clips/hooks?

It took me less than a minute to install the Taisol 933 on an Asus A7v. And it's that long b/c i was reading the installation instruction & making sure the Taisol was sitting on there all nice & neat.

fop38 is easy, just pull the clip down with a needle nose and its a breeze

I don't know why you guys are having such a hard time with the fop 32/38 . I installed mine in a few minutes the first time, and have uninstalled/reinstalled it several times since. Heres what I did

1. apply thermal compound to core

2. lean heatsink back and clip on first side DO NOT LET HS TOUCH CORE

3. slowly lower HS onto cpu and make sure its lined up

4. with one hand press down on middle of HS with to keep it from rocking back and forth on the core

5. take the screwdriver and CAREFULLY push the clip down. Might take a few tries, but its not too hard. Just don't slip and kill your mobo.

After words find the strongest drink you can to calm your nerves.
