Which is the better value: 9600 Pro, 9600XT

Um, what prices are you looking at?

If you're talking new, you're looking at ~$135 for a 9600P and ~$153 for a 9600XT. I'd probably go with the XT at those prices, but a 5900XT at ~$175 is an even better buy.

OTOH, you might consider picking up a used 9700P instead for ~$150, the best buy out of all of them.

If you're going to buy HL2 anyway, the XT is essentially $40 less than its advertised price.

But if you're not, spend a little extra money and get a 5900.

I don't think 9600XTs come with HL2 anymore; at least, not the somewhat reasonably-priced $150 ones.

Just get a 9600 Pro and OC it, tadda you have 9600 XT. Easy.
