Which is the better upgrade? XP2100 (rev b) with PC3000/3200 ram or XP2400 with PC2700?

I would like to see my boot up time go faster. I also play alot of game (Direct3D mostly) and would like to see the framerates increases. I was thinking maybe an XP2100 (rev b) and some OCZ PC3200 or Kingston HyperX 3000 OR XP 2400 with Kingston or Crucial PC2700. Which would give better performance? thanks... i have an Abit NF-7 Nforce2 Board....

Go with the 2100+ and OCZ EL 3500 c2. Then you can overclock the crap out of it. I have my 1700+ revB at 2.2 ghz running stable as heck.

Boot up time will be affected most by your board (BIOS), and system startup files. My June 2001 ECS P4ITA board takes about 3 minutes to boot with a P4 1.6 @1.74ghz w/XP Home. My new A7N8X w/ xp2100+ takes about 45 seconds from power on to desktop @ 1.7ghz w/XP Pro. Newer Bios, less startup stuffs.

Go with the first combination (much better for overclocking), but to use full potential you have to OC.

chances are they are the same stepping anyways

i'd get the XP2100+ with PC3200 ram if you overclock
but if you don't, i'd go with option B

Get the xp2100+ from new egg and some crucial memory. Then go and buy a 9700pro and finally go to "msconfig" and take out all the crap from your start up.

Yes, it will void the warranty,but it is hard to damage the processor or ram unless if you do something really hardcore(like increasing the voltage to horrendous levels)
but you can always gun for a conservative overclock

What are acceptable levels of voltage for the Ram and the CPU? Will overclocking Cut my components life shorter? id like the CPU to last at least 2 years and the Ram 4 years. What speed are the 2100 (rv b) getting at safe volatges? thanks
