Which is the better tv for gaming?

The 61" Plasma looks like the better TV to me.

Almost 20 more inches 🙂Q), actual 1280x720 native resolution (the LCD has 1024x768). Most everything else looks pretty even.

Personally, and this is more of a general statement, but I like the colors from a Plasma better than LCD.

I know from experience...plasmas do experience burn in. If you plan on playing console games, do not buy the plasma unless you want to replace it in a few years. If you want size, look into DLP.

Ummm, you have them reversed. The 42" is a plasma, the 61" is a LCD.

I would go LCD for gaming. Great for PC use as well. Plasma TVs have great PQ, but I'm not a big fan of the rectagular pixels and odd resolution.

Is that a joke? LCD projection, LCoS (SXRD), Plasma, and LCD flat panel all offer advantages and disadvantages compared to DLP.

I would personally go with plasma or LCD flat panel; never a big fan of projection sets (save SXRD). I don't like the idea of having to replace bulbs either.

I looked at it again. It's a projection LCD...61". My answer is neither. Projection DLP. If you want to compare, compare flat panel LCD to plasma. Then LCD wins.

About how long do bulbs last? I purchased a gingerly used LCD RPTV and am just curious.

People in the AVSForum are saying the Sony A10-series 50" 720p LCD RPTVs are some of the best displays short of the new 1080p DLPs (for $3400 - up), and the 50" is on sale for $2249:

BBuy Sony

That's probably what I'll buy if I don't get a Samsung -8 series 50" 1080p DLP instead.

Yeah, not only do the CDs install a rootkit, but they violated open-source software licenses to do it (illegally used code from LAME, etc).

But that's the scum in the record company, not the less-evil people in the hardware group.
