Which is the better position to be in during a fight?

why circle ?
it's just a waste of energy.
I always waited for the person to make the first move.
You just dodge and execute a take down and proceed with the beatdown.

Most fights(Physical aspect) don't even last a full minute anyhow. Unless the pansies are standing there talking.
If someone can go 1-2 minutes you gotta give them mad props for having great conditioning.

I'd argue that it's better to throw the first punch.
You can't always dodge.

That being said, circling is a waste of time/energy/momentum.

If you're circled, then try to take out ONE guy first, one of two things should happen:

1) You'll knock the guy out, and the rest of his friends thought that you're this psycho biotch, and just leave with their wounded.

2) You'll have one less guy to fight, or kick your ass, whichever the course might be.

EDIT: Maybe I misunderstood the question, because most fights are not fair.

3) You have no idea how to fight, but You'll manage to hurt the one guy just enough to really piss them off. He feels his pride is hurt and stomps on your face an unnecessary amount of times.

The single most awesome fight I personally witnessed was a little guy, maybe 5'6 being circled and taunted by a much bigger guy 6'2. The big guy was taunting him and about 45 of his friends were around them.

The little guy was wearing some leather work gloves. we were in a McD's parking lot after hours. The little guy (my friend) reached his limit but quickly struck out and hit the guy in the chin. The amazing part was that my friend then hit the big guy twice more ON HIS WAY TO THE GROUND!! I mean, the guy was actually falling from the first blow but he soundly connected with lightning speed two more times on this guys face and the show was o v e r!

So, if you're circling, you're preparing to be a victim in my book. Fight or leave. I personally prefer to leave. Fighting can lead to incarceration or death, neither of which I truly wish on my enemy nor myself.

You can always dodge if you're trained, if you attack you leave yourself open. When martial arts masters fight, often times neither makes the first move for a long time because of this. If you are skilled enough, you can see something coming, find an opening and finish your oppnent off.

Circiling is a waste of time, but necessary if your oppnent tries to circle you, you should keep your distance and stay on your toes in a fight, so if you're gonna dance, dance.

^ that's pvssies way of thinking. So you'll just hope that he/they don't hurt you as much when you don't fight back?

Is it better to circle your opponent or to be the one circled?
Who the fsck fights like this in real life?

Well, there was a UFC match (maybe UFC V or VI) where one guy stayed in the middle and was being circled, the guy circling got tired and the guy in the middle won. That's as close to real life as you can get.

Man, it's just realistic. If you can't fight, unless you are in jail, there's nothing wrong with just taking a beating. I've seen people beat someone down a lot harder than they planned on because the guy wouldn't give up, even though he stood no chance.

Amazing. I thought there was always a chance you will react incorrectly and fall into a feint.

Tae Kwon Do, superior defense. Steven Seagal movies exaggerate the ease of breaking joints, but its been done, we just don't see it on TV. Apparently crippling an opponent is against the teachings

superior to what?😕

In a normal fight and you aren't worried about legal action, it's better to throw the first punch. If two people are semi-trained it probably doesn't matter who throws first

well with training you have a way better chance of dodging the blow then takeing it full on.

either way i try to avoid fights if i can. but there are times (granted maybe twice in your life) when you have to fight. If you are going to fight do your best to take him down fast so you can walk away alive.
