LOL, another 2 winners.

Also, there are a lot more one word answers that suggest other players too, so make sure to harp on them as well.
You'll notice that many of those who suggest other DAPs (not just in this thread) are happy to return to the thread, give advice and links about different players, discuss pros and cons. The majority of the ones who drop an iBomb in the thread just post and leave. Except for 000r000, at least he has some reasoning behind his fanboyism.

What's there not too like about the ipod... Also, i got mine for FREE so it a better reason to like it even more.

How about the Sony Vaio Pocket that the hot dealers are raving about? I'm in the market for a new mp3 player and I'm considering this one as well as a Toshiba F10.

Click Here for a Pic of all the Media Players I have used

So, there is a pic I just took. In the picture:

dell dj20
iriver pmc-120
iriver hs320
iriver hs10 (20 gig version)
rio ce2100
apple ipod 3g (20 gig version)
toshibe f10

I also have a samsung yh-999 and a toshiba f20 floating around somewhere. None of them are as good as the ipod. When I get home and if I have time, I post why all the other suck compared to the ipod.

would be good if standby mode didnt drain the battery like theres no tomorrow:disgust:
Are you using the latest firmware? My gf flashed hers back to an older firmware and her battery life has improved greatly.

yes i'm using the latest firmware, however i suspect your gf was using an older one than the present newest firmware. they released a firmware to address the battery drain by shortening the standby time from 24 hours to 4 hours after you turn the player off, but it had the side-effect of completely draining the battery during total shut-down mode (the mode after the standby time expires). they pulled that firmware after about 4 days, and now they released a new firmware a week or 2 ago that deals with both problems.

however, changing the length of standby time does not fix the fact that the player still draws way too much current in standby time... it just shortens the time it's in that mode before it completely tuns off. even with the shortened standby mode, i still only get 9 hours playback (as opposed to the 12 hours as advertised, and verified if and only if you sit and listen to your music for a solid 12 hours with no interruptions), and that is simply unacceptable to me. i will be returning it thanks to CC's 30 day money back guarantee.

i was considering the sony nw-hd5, but according to user reviews, the buttons crack within a month of usage :frown: so i ordered a cowon iaudio x5 instead :)

Creative Zen Micro. Built in FM, very cool looking, touchpad...it's like an iPod without the cost.

I'm not sure what the point of your post is except to show off.
For me lack of wma support puts it out of the running. Itunes doesn't help it either, IMO.

Doesn't seem like he's showing off seems like he's trying to say that he's used many different mp3 players and out of all of them he finds ipod the best.

It wasn't to show off. It was trying to say as breakit23 said, "I have the following players in my desk, I use them alot, I know which ones are good and which ones are bad."

Honestly, I don't know how to can that itunes is a negative on the ipod. You own a gigbeat. If you want to talk about sucky software, the gigabeat takes the prize with sucky software. The fact that they market it to work for janus, and you can't even use their software to use janus. I also can't believe you said that not playing WMA is a negative of the ipod. Considering the only positive to having WMA support, is Janus, the gigabeat doesn't make it easy. Why do i have to use the dock? Why does the dock have to be plugged in? Why do I have to use WMP10? Not only that, iTunes will convert any non DRM WMA to mp3 or AAC. You aren't going to lose much in that conversion.

I wouldn't consider buying the dell dj for any reason. The only good thing about the dell dj is the price. Not only is it really huge, the controls are horrible. The thing is like a brick. The worst thing about it has to be the placement of the volume controls All the other controls are near the bottom and the volume controls are near the top. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

The Rio is small. It also blatantly ripped off the stainless steal back of the ipod. This is another device who lacks nice controls. The scroll wheel is at the top right, while all the other controls are at the bottom. Its just not a fluid move between both. The menu system is also horrible. Software is sucky, not as bad as the toshiba though

The iriver h10 isn't all that bad. The internal radio sucks but thats understandable. I am not the biggest fan of the menu system, but again, its not as bad as most of the others. It has a nice feel in your hand, controls are all placed in pretty good spots. No major complaints. It is ok.

The iriver pmc sucks. it just feels cheap. Considering it costs over 400 bucks you think it would be better made. Movies must be converted to WMV before playing on it. also, widescreen moves don't get displayed as letterbox, they are squished to fit the screen and it makes them look like crap. Its also huge, wait to big to put in your pocket.

The iriver hs320 sucks too. Its big, just like the dell. The controls are horrible, navigation ease is poor.

The samsung pmc has really bad battery life. Thats probably because its alot small than the iriver. Its also alot cooler looking but you pay for it with having such bad battery life. It almost makes it unusable.

Bash the ipod all you want, but nothing beats it. When I rip a new cd onto my computer or download tracks from the best online music store, copying them to my ipod is as easy as connecting it to the computer. Thats it... Itunes opens, files are synced and then you are done.

Not to mention the amount of 3rd party accessories that the ipod has. Everything from speaker docs to extra remotes to car adapters. Its great.

Hopefully I will be getting some creative players next week so I can tell you how much they suck and how I now understand why apple was able to sell 6 millions ipods last quarter and 500 million tracks online since ITMS opened.
