I guess my question regarding optical mice and FPS gaming has been answered indirectly here ;)

Thanks guys, the MX700 is now right up there. Just might have to give wireless a go!

Dont let the wireless thing put you off either. I was sceptical at first, but i can tell you that i can frag with a railgun just as well with my mx700, as i could with my intellimouse optical v1.0, maybe even a bit better.

I absolutely love my Logitech dual optical. It's symmetrical (which is good for us lefties who are living in a righty world), it's low profile, and it's extremely responsive and accurate (800 dpi). I wouldn't mess with the cordless stuff though. Too much hassle with changing batteries and all. I just like to sit down and scroll... Don't want to be worrying about changing batteries in my mouse.

*Edit* Never mind about the wireless talk. I see from the other posters that you have a charging station for the cordless mouse now. That's pretty cool. Obviously, I've not had a cordless mouse for many years. It's good to hear that they are staying innovative in that area. Maybe I'll get a cordless mouse one day after all...

Logitech MX700. The MS mice aren't as good in my experience and I don't think the boomslang is comfortable.

btw gusy the mx700 is very expensive compared to logitech's mise of last year (mouseman optical cordless). Batteries last 4 months of "normal" use, which means about 2 months for us. I don't find that that bad. I have a huge bulk bag of AAs i've been slowly going through. next year i'm gonna swtich to the whole rechargable battery thing.

I like the MX300 and MX500 because the MX700 feels heavy and the IE3.0 is too bulky.

I've used a Microsoft Blue Optical, its movement is quite good but its feet are very crappy. In fact, it the feet are not even balanced.

Logitech Mouseman Dual Optical is the best mouse i have ever used, and i have tried them all. well... maybe not all, but a lot, and it's simply the best imho.

Regarding the recharging of the cordless mouse:

Afromod MousePad Mouse Charger

This seems to be a fairly simple yet effective mod for providing a constant charge to the cordless mouse, thus never having to charge it. The creator is a little eccentric with the graphics (you will see what I mean) but nonetheless, worthwhile to take a glance at.

I have both MS wireless explorer and MX700 on my desk. I prefer the mx700 over the explorer because the explorer tends to lag in response time. but the shape of the explorer owns the MX700 100000000 times. :( cant have the perfect mouse until someone joins the two of them together.
