Indian food is definitely way up there. People within each state in India cook COMPLETELY differently. The infamous vindaloo is from Goa with its portuguese influence creating its own unique fusion of tropical, spanish and indian food from that state. Punjab in North India has its own unique tastes and dishes.

But one thing is for certain, after an indian meal, you just gotta have a nap.

It is "generally accepted" that France is one of 5 best in everything. That's why they got a seat on the UN Security Council. 😀

i think what the OP calls the "best foods" are the "least offensive" foods. i mean take italian and japanese for example. i would say italian food isn't exactly oh wow this is SOOOOO good quality, but most people think it tastes pretty good. and japanese food is the same. i mean there's soy sauce, rice, sushi, and that's pretty much it... i mean it's all kind of simple and good but never WOW.

but maybe i just don't like food as much as regular people. i dunno.

Need I bring up the famous French engineering marvel that is their tanks...

One gear forward, three in reverse.

😀

I've gotta add one that no-one else has: MOROCCAN. The spices of the middle east combined with the French cooking tradion from its colonial days. And the belly dancers are a nice touch with any meal.

1. French (traditional, not nuveau)
2. Moroccan
3. Thai
4. Southern (USA, specifically BBQ and Cajun)
5. Northern Italian (from a real resturaunt)

6. Japanese
7. Southern Italian
....
999,999 British (blood pudding and boiled beef? What are they thinking?)

I also have to disagree with Korean. It's not a very refined cuisine, only a few steps up from survival cooking.

what an absurd question. to the billion chinese in the world, do they consider 2 of the top cuisines to be french or italian? what about the billion indians, or the hundreds of millions of africans? or south americans?

frankly, i think the best of most ethnicities' cuisines can measure up to the best italian, french, or chinese. i've had tibetan food that was unbelievable, cajun food that made me weep tears of joy... hell, even belgian food. it's so ridiculously subjective that i could maintain that mcdonalds is the pinnacle of culinary achievment, and even if i was the only person on earth who held that opinion that doesn't make it wrong.

so you go with

1.tibetan
2.cajun
3.belgian
4.mcdonalds

But you neglected to mention the 5th best cuisine so you are NON-RESPONSIVE !

🙁

French?!?! WTF?! Are you on crack?

Indian has got to be #1 (at least for me). That would be followed by Chinese / Thai. Mexican is very good, too.
