Which is nerdier?

voted. Asking my spouse about Star Trek Captains would simply get me a confused look, which is of no nerd-satisfaction whatsoever 🙂

I don't know how to vote because both of them seem more like geek than nerd. Nerd would be if you replaced BSG episode in #1 with "latest Malcolm Gladwell book" or if you replaced "star trek captain" with "abolitionist"

It's funny because I don't think of posting on here as being nerdy, but shit, when you put it that way...

I literally LOLed when I read #1.

i was thinking the same thing, because #1 is done ad nauseum for all kinds of subjects

Wait... I changed my mind. No nerd OR geek would be caught dead analyzing the god-awful writing of BSG the past year or so. Therefore #2 wins by default as only a sloth or paramecium would think that a recent BSG episode is worth discussing in detail. UNLESS it was a giant spittle-flinging berserker rant about the gross decline in quality of the show. While Star Trek had major ups and downs in quality, at least on the whole the work was somewhat even and did not spiral down the tubes in glorious disaster.

Well, the second one implies that one managed to get a spouse, so I have to go with the first.
Besides, how could you marry someone without knowing which captain they liked more? 😛

I don't think BSG is that terribly nerdy. Yes, it is Sci-Fi but at the same time I know a lot of women that watch that show and get in to it, one of them got me in to the show in the first place. Also, there is a lot of scantly clad women in that show, which appeal to all types of men, just not nerds. Star Trek is a bit more mainstream due to the fact there are a lot of different series in that universe. In the end, I think option 1 is nerdier only because the effort required to debate all that over an imaginary show is much greater than asking a GF who her favorite captain is. It has nothing to do with the premise of the show to me.

Ha! Thank you all for your votes so far.

I asked my husband today who his favorite star trek captain was, and he wouldn't even answer because he thought it was so nerdy.... despite the fact that he's seen every star trek episode and movie ever made! I said that his BSG behavior online was much nerdier.

He however, still won't concede defeat. He insists that the star trek thing is nerdier and that the results of the poll do not change that fact. I still feel vindicated though.

I'm guilty of #1 (but with Lost). I've read all the Lost recaps here, plus all the comments. Several hundred pages, mostly at work since that's one of the very few sites that isn't blocked. My sis however posts regularly on multiple Lost-forums.

I only lurk them all.

Doesn't he know that women are always right so it doesn't really matter?

3) posting poll on nerdy internet forum to resolve a "which is nerdier" argument

by the way, there is no poll....

'zakly...it doesn't get much nerdier than arguing about which option is more nerdy than the other...😛
