We witnessed a great day in our Nation's history with the first black President. Which got me thinking if we're likely to see another historic event like that anytime again in the near future.

Thoughts?

Our debt spiraling completely out of control causing a crisis the likes of which this nation has never seen nor envisioned.

What do you define as equally historic? Obviously, it's impossible to have another first black US president milestone again, so what else do you think is the equal of that?

Obama is only 1/2 back so there is still the possibility of a first black President.

Not that it matters....but I suppose it is like Kennedy being the first Catholic President....it is a milestone that shouldn't really matter.

Hispanic, female & Asian Presidents seem like a given to me.

Could've easily have had a woman (HRC) last election. And we've had legit candidates that were Hispanic (Richardson).

Gay? Some claim Lincoln was gay. I'd be surprised if some Presidents weren't Bi.

The realization that if a black man can become president, affirmative action isn't needed?

Or, we'll see the collapse of the USA as a country, to be reformed as a much looser confederation.

Any collapse would likely mean warring factions.

Of the options listed above, this one is the most likely.

It's really too bad that Obama isn't Hispanic. That way Tiger Woods could have a sex change, declare himself a lesbian, and be the first black, Asian, and gay president.

What? You were all thinking it!

We'll finally pay our debt? 🙄
<Snort> Good one!

The oil will run out. China will be invaded by Mongols. 10,000 horsemen vs one out of gas tank.

The oil will run out. Long boats carrying bicycle riding Vikings will land on America's shores.

The oil will run out. NASCAR will not be the same, at all.

Within 5 0years? The country self-implodes after a couple more massive boom-bust economic cycles, with the global economy hot on our heels, leading to massive civil disturbances and the emergence of a leader who will try to unite the world, with massive world wars to follow. 🙂

I'd like to see a Hispanic midget with a Chinese wife and 2 adopted black children get elected president within the next 50 years. Of course he would be a Democrat.

The Republican Party flare-up, burn-out and break up. When Repugs campaign on nothing but self-interest, deliver nothing but gridlock when elected, people will wake up and toss the bums out.

you'll continue to treat presidential elections like popularity contests and elect all the wrong people.

The TEA Party will rise to power and dismantle our nation, piece by piece. This will be followed by an era of post-apocalyptic anarchy.
